About the event

Simon is a Conservation Ecologist at the University of East Anglia, with particular interests in migrant birds and improving the biodiversity value of agricultural landscapes. His research often makes use of the exceptional data collected by citizen scientists and his talk will explore how he is using data sonification – turning data into sound – to investigate and understand them in more detail. With International Dawn Chorus day on 2nd May, he will focus on how he has been recreating historical dawn choruses from Breeding Bird Survey data to explore how natural soundscapes are changing over time.
