Grassland and woodland winter wildlife walk at the Middlewick Ranges Local Wildlife Site led by Dougal Urquhart. Meet at
the army post on the Mersea Road – TM005229. Park in Queen Elizabeth Way on the opposite side of the Mersea Road. The
location is on a bus route, stout footwear will be adequate and note that no toilets are on site. We’ll walk across the Wick to explore the Birch Brook Woodland, passing areas of scrub by the butts. We’ll look out for possible wintering
birds such as Redwing, Fieldfare, Siskin, Redpoll, Stonechat and maybe even Woodcock. Maybe some Scarlet Waxcaps might
be on show in the grassland. Contact Dougal on 07494 866157 to book a place.
