About the Event
Wildlife Walk East Bridge to the Hythe, Colchester, led by Sven Wair - please book on 07504 095352
We will meet at East Bridge, which crosses the River Colne on East Street (TM00692529 What 3 Words fried.august.deck) opposite the apartments that used to be Marriages Mill. On street parking is available nearby and town buses are frequent.
From there we will walk past the allotments and through The Moors, to the Hythe and King Edward Quay, and then we will retrace our steps. This is a round trip of roughly three miles. It will be easy walking, with solid, even ground underfoot for most of the way. At this time of year, we will probably have close views of wintering Teal on the river, and possibly some waders and Grey Wagtails, or even a Kingfisher. We will be looking at the early spring vegetation, which, if we are lucky will include Whitlowgrass.
