Meet at 10am in the farmyard, Coppins Farm, Lower Green, Alphamstone, Bures CO8 5HE. TL877355. Farmyard entrance is 80m up from Alphamstone church on the opposite side of the road. This is by kind invitation of the farmer John McGlashan. Possibly no toilets available.
Coppins Farm consists of 150 acres of woodland, wetland and wildflower meadows teaming with wildlife. It sits on the edge of the picturesque Stour Valley AONB and is tucked away in a secluded corner of Essex. The farm has been managed under countryside stewardship for many years resulting in a rich mix of wildlife. We will enjoy meadows with yellow rattle and ox-eye daisies along with common spotted orchids, bee orchids and pyramidal orchids too. There should be plenty of butterflies to enjoy and other insects, along with skylarks, buzzards, yellowhammers possibly red kites too, while dormice have been found in some of the hedgerows.
