About the Event

Indoor Meeting – Tuesday 28 November – 7.30pm at the Old Heath Community Centre, Colchester

Dougal Urquhart – ‘Moths of North-East Essex’

As well as being the CNHS Chair, Dougal’s other hat he has worn since 2014 is the Essex Moth Group Co-ordinator having taken on the role from Joe Firmin, organising the annual indoor meetings and producing the annual Moth Group newsletter. Moth populations have been well documented across North-East Essex for many years and the interest in mothing has grown much more in recent years. Although moth numbers continue to decline overall, there are many species spreading and colonising North-East Essex. The talk describes those species most in decline, those on the increase, possible reasons for these changes, conservation action needed, as well as describing the current mothing scene in North-East Essex
