Mothing Session at Tiptree Heath - Dougal Urquhart

Tiptree Heath is a small fragment of what was once a much larger area of heathland that stretched from Maldon to Messing. For such a small area it holds a wealth of wildlife. Moth trapping here in the past has always been very productive with a number of scarce and attractive species being caught.

Meet at the Tiptree Heath car park on the B1022 Tiptree to Maldon road at about 800 metres on the Maldon side of Tiptree. Check with Dougal or Joan beforehand that the event is taking place, in case it has to be cancelled because of poor weather. Bring a seat and torch and a wide-brimmed hat to protect your eyes from the bright moth light.
