About the event

Booking is essential for this event.

Join Dougal on this exploration of this rich grassland site on the south side of Colchester, still owned by the MOD but threatened with development. This is an opportunity for CNHS members to see the site that has been in the news for themselves. It has a mix of acid grassland, gorse and broom scrub, some relict heath, thick hedgerows as well as some small wooded areas. The area is noted for its invertebrates which we will be looking out for, as well as the birds, admiring the flora and anything else that catches our eyes.

Meet at the army post on the Mersea Road – (TM005229. ///stir.helps.vets). Park in Queen Elizabeth Way on the opposite side of the road. The location is on a bus route, stout footwear will be adequate and note that no toilets are on site. Contact Dougal on 07494866157…
