Tiptree Heath is a small fragment of what was once a much larger area of heathland that stretched from Maldon to Messing. For such a small area it holds a wealth of wildlife. The area is actively managed to enhance this. Moth trapping here in the past has always been very productive with a number of scarce and attractive species being caught. Please bring a seat and a torch with you and a wide-brimmed hat to protect your eyes from the bright light that is used to attract the moths.
Check with Dougal or Joan, the community warden, beforehand that the event is taking place, in case it has to be cancelled because of poor weather.
